John P. Haggott, born in 1805, was 56 years old when he enlisted and was mustered into the 57th Ohio Infantry on 10/3/61 in Columbus, OH. Haggott served with the regiment through March 1862. In April 1862 he was examined by another Surgeon, who certified that Haggott was suffering from "debility and diarrhea". Haggott was hospitalized in St. Louis, MO. On 4/30/62, and Officer's Casualty Sheet was sent back to his regiment, "Dr. John P. Haggott, suffering from Asthma, died of disease in St. Louis."
